Tips on Wearing a Ruby Ring

The right piece of jewelry can just make an outfit. Rubies work well with so many colors, and there are many variations of ruby colors themselves. If your birthstone is in July, you should definitely sport a ruby ring.

Selecting Colors for Your Outfit

One of the best ways to determine what colors would enhance an outfit is to use the color wheel. A simple Google search will bring one up.

Look at the wheel. On either side of it are colors that would work well with the ones in the middle.

One way is simply to look at nature and see how colors are combined.

Another method is to look directly across the wheel to see other colors which also coordinate.

Artists use these methods all the time. You would do well to select your jewelry using one of these techniques.

Ruby Colors and Metals

Colors of rubies run from a rosy pink to a dark mauve.

Using the color wheel, you can choose green to accent the pink ruby both because it is directly across the wheel and it is prevalent in nature. Think of pink roses.

Either silver or gold accents rubies.  Many people think that rubies look lovely with gold, but that is up to your own sense of style.

Social Occasions

Rubies also have a wide range of how they can be used for various social occasions.

For example, a simple thin band with a small stone would be appropriate for more casual events, and it would look great with jeans and a t-shirt.

Some wear rubies with large stones and sometimes combine them with a statement necklace, feather earrings in the color of the stone, and tribal type rings.

Accentuate Your Personal Style

Are you more into a sophisticated look? Perhaps you might choose a larger stone ring, encrusted with diamonds. Wear dangling ruby earrings and a ruby bracelet.

You might consider a ruby red bag or shoes to enhance the outfit. This would look stunning worn with that little black dress. We all have one, right?

If it is summer, consider the nautical style, which is timeless. What would look better than a navy and white striped top, white capris, nautical styled tennis shoes, accented with red rubies?

Anchor earrings are popular and would be a real eye-catcher with this look. You might be able to find a ruby pair online, or at a local store.

If you are a preppie, you might like a ruby red and white striped watchband.

This would look amazing with a white cable knit, v-neck sweater, with stripes of ruby and navy along the neckline, bottom, and sleeves. Wear with khaki pants.

Bring the outfit to life with small round ruby earrings, a simple ruby ring, and perhaps a bracelet of ruby and navy.

If you like a more girly, romantic type, rubies are ideal for you. Wear a floral summer sundress with a denim vest paired over it.

Find heart-shaped stones or settings, but only use them once. Any more is overkill. A delicate ruby necklace would give you that soft, feminine style.

Wear a very romantic ruby ring with diamonds, real or fake, around it. Pair this with a ruby colored bag or with sandals in the same color.

Where to Buy Rubies?

We recommend James Allen (read review) because you can take a 360-degree look at any ruby before having it set in a piece of jewelry.

We also recommend William May and Ross-Simons.
