Wearing silver earrings is a great way to dress up any look. Whether you’re heading to the grocery store or you’re going out for a night on the town, silver earrings can provide you with the look that you’re trying to achieve. Before you put in just any earrings, there are a few different things to be aware of.
Post or Dangle Earrings: Which to Choose
There are predominantly two types of silver earrings to choose from: post or dangle.

Dangle earrings provide more length to hang off the earlobe.
The post earrings are usually a stud that will fasten to the earlobe with a backing.
The dangle ones are going to slide through the ear and provide more length to hang off the earlobe.
When you’re wearing your hair down, it’s often easier to wear a post. You won’t have to worry about your hair getting caught in the earring and it will be a simple way to accessorize.
If you tuck your hair behind your ear, everyone will see the stud. It can be a silver ball or a variety of different graphics that have been shaped out of silver.
If you’re wearing your hair up, dangle earrings can be more effective.
Whether you go with tendrils of silver or loops or chains, the dangle earring will be seen easier if your hair is swept away from your neck.
If it’s a formal occasion, you may also want to get a little fancier with the earrings.
Choosing Stones to Coordinate with Your Earrings
Sometimes it’s necessary to coordinate a little more effectively. If you’re wearing red, then rubies can make a dramatic effect. If you’re wearing purple, then an amethyst stone will go nicely.
You can always choose stones that are in a silver setting to help you get a little more accessory-friendly.
The benefit to choosing stones within silver earrings is that they will be much more cost-effective, too. If you were to buy the same stones in a platinum or white gold setting, you would be spending a lot more money.
When in doubt, you can always choose diamond or cubic zirconia as the stone to go with your earrings as it will help to dress up any look and make it look that much more elegant.
What to Wear with Silver Earrings
There’s no rule to say what you can and can’t wear with silver earrings. Based on skin tone and hair color, silver may look better on some people, however.
For example, if you are very pale skinned or you have blond hair, silver earrings may not have the same effect as they do on those with a tan or dark hair.
This doesn’t mean you can’t wear silver earrings, it just means that you might want to consider doing so if they have a colored stone in them.
If you have multiple piercings in your ear, it can look attractive to place a stud above a dangle earring. This will add a little more sparkle to your look for the day or night.
What goes well with silver? More silver. Accessorize with a silver necklace, silver bracelet and if you’re wearing a skirt and sandals, show off your legs even more by looking for a silver anklet.
Mix and match your looks. Silver earrings look gorgeous for any occasion.
